Fort, a 32-year-old Akron mother, joined the July 3, 2022 demonstrations after Jayland Walker’s killing. The complaint alleges she was arrested around 3 a.m. July 4 while fleeing tear gas and charged with misconduct at an emergency and failure to disperse. Police booked and jailed her until release July 5. All charges were dismissed March 13, 2023. These accounts and the misconduct allegations are attributed to the plaintiffs’ June 29, 2023 civil complaint, not judicial findings.
