Biography
James Bartlett was a Young Communist League activist prosecuted following the April 6, 1934 Minneapolis Civil Works Administration relief demonstration. The May 8 Daily Worker names him with Arvo Halberg and Leo Tuuri among defendants sentenced Friday, May 4 by Judge Clyde R. White to thirty-five days in the workhouse. The ILD obtained a stay until May 14 while seeking a new trial. This Minnesota organizer is distinct from the nineteenth-century Oberlin-Wellington Rescue defendant of the same name. The report supplies no exact release or actual served total. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1934/v11-n110-may-08-1934-DW-LOC.pdf#page=3
