Biography

Jacob Hinshaw was an East Tennessee Unionist who took part in the November 1861 uprising that burned Confederate railroad bridges across the region. Captured and condemned under the War Department's order to hang bridge burners, he was executed at Knoxville, Tennessee, in December 1861.
