Biography
Jacob Appelbaum is an American computer-security researcher, privacy activist and former Tor Project developer who represented WikiLeaks at public events and later worked with journalists reporting on documents supplied by Edward Snowden. United States border agents repeatedly detained and questioned him during secondary inspections beginning in July 2010, searched or seized electronic equipment, and in one documented episode held him for about three hours before releasing him. The Justice Department also obtained a court order for information associated with his Twitter account during the WikiLeaks investigation. No criminal charge, jail booking or prison confinement resulted from these encounters.
