Biography
Israel Simon was a needle-trades organizer imprisoned on an assault charge arising from union organizing. The Needle Trades Workers Industrial Union arranged a subscription to The New Masses for him in July 1934, identifying him as prisoner No. 59983 at 800 Fordham Road in the Bronx, serving an indefinite sentence. He was later held at Raymond Street Jail in Brooklyn. The International Labor Defense supported him as a labor prisoner.
