Biography
Ishima Kusano was an Issei Hilo resident and storekeeper. JCCH records his birth year as 1887. His individual record documents arrest in August 1942, Kilauea Military Camp and Sand Island detention, mainland transfer September 1942, Angel Island September-October 1942, Lordsburg in October 1942 and Santa Fe June 1943-October 1945. The intervening chronology is not specified. He returned to Hawaii aboard Yarmouth in November 1945. This was administrative US wartime civilian confinement in the context of Japanese ancestry.
