Biography

Isami Ueoka, also recorded as Isamu Ueoka, was an Issei storekeeper living in Hanapepe, Kauai. JCCH records April 1942 arrest, Wailua County Jail and Sand Island detention, then mainland transfer August 1942. Listed confinement includes Angel Island August 1942, Lordsburg August 1942-June 1943 and Santa Fe June 1943-October 1945. He returned to Honolulu aboard Yarmouth in November 1945. This was US wartime civilian incarceration; the archive does not establish an individual criminal conviction. Source: https://incarceration.jcchawaii.org/internees/ueoka-isamu-isami
