Biography

Moe Bragin’s The Farmers Meet, page 4 of the February 27, 1933 Daily Worker, reports that Arkansas farm-conference delegates Otto Frederickson and Hugh Gore were arrested in West Virginia for riding freight trains while traveling to Washington. Each was fined five dollars plus $3.82 costs. With only nine dollars between them, Gore paid and continued, while Frederickson remained, was confined in crowded cells and forced to crush rock. The narrative attributes abusive conditions to the sheriff. Their arrival at the conference establishes later freedom, without exact arrest or discharge days.
