Biography

Frank Brbot was a striking miner from Triadelphia, West Virginia, imprisoned at the state penitentiary in Moundsville. The International Labor Defense campaigned for him during the 1928 miners' struggle. In a letter published in November 1929, Brbot wrote from the penitentiary about his confinement and appealed for support. He remained on the International Labor Defense's prisoner relief roster in 1930.

In a letter from Moundsville published in the April 1930 Labor Defender, page 78, Brbot acknowledged a $5 monthly International Labor Defense check and reported that he was still working on the road. The letter supports his continued imprisonment and prison road labor, without establishing an exact new custody or release date.

The November 2, 1929 Daily Worker prints a first-person letter from Brbot in the Moundsville, West Virginia penitentiary, replying to an October 12 ILD letter and financial assistance. The introduction spells Brobot and the signature Brbot. He thanks the defense organization and expresses solidarity with the Gastonia prisoners and its coming convention. This establishes actual prison correspondence and coal-strike context, without an exact admission, discharge, offense statute or numerical completed term. The Behind the Bars directory on printed page 4 lists this prisoner under Moundsville prison, West Virginia, with four years, 1928. This is an attributed historical directory entry: the year and nominal term do not establish an intake day, uninterrupted imprisonment, completed service or physical release.

The defense appeal identifies FrankBrbot as a striking miner of Triadelphia,WestVirginia, whose prosecution required defense support. This adds locality and organizing context, not a new sentence or complete custody.
