Biography

Herman Turkowitz was individually identified among five workers arbitrarily arrested inside Manhattan Lyceum during the January 8, 1931 unemployment demonstrations. The paper says police took him out for questioning and friends found him in Bellevue Hospital an hour later. It supplies no formal charge, exact physical discharge or final disposition. The hour is a reported observation interval, not a complete detention total. Source: https://marxists.architexturez.net/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1931/v08-n008-NY-jan-09-1931-DW-LOC.pdf#page=3
