Biography
Henry F. Lucas, known as Harry, was an Ohio-born cook working near Wise River. He was convicted of sedition following an encounter in a Butte saloon in which witnesses attributed antiwar statements and denunciations of the flag to him. Lucas said he had been drinking and denied being a Wobbly. He was imprisoned at Deer Lodge and released on July 24, 1921.
The original Montana State Prison descriptive intake form records actual receipt at Deer Lodge on 1919-01-12 and sentencing on 1919-01-11 in the Silver Bow County state sedition case, with an imposed term of five to fifteen years. The report date is distinct from prison admission; receipt is not necessarily initial arrest, and the term is not completed time served. No new physical discharge is inferred. The named form includes frontal and profile photographs. Source: https://clcowgill.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/intakeform-m-w.pdf#page=4
