Biography
H. E. “Harris” Herd was an Industrial Workers of the World member from Moscow, Idaho, arrested during the northwest Idaho lumber strike in July 1917. He received a four- to ten-year sentence for criminal syndicalism and entered the Idaho State Penitentiary on April 15, 1918. A January 1924 labor appeal reported that he remained imprisoned and sought his release; the exact date on which he eventually left custody remains unresolved.
