The General Defense Committee’s “Defense News” on printed page 53 reports Charles Carlson among three men who had recently secured release from the Idaho State Penitentiary through parole or expiration of sentence. The item does not distinguish which mechanism applied to each man, give an exact physical-release date, or establish a complete term served.

White’s May 1918 St. Maries mass-trial account reports twelve criminal-syndicalism defendants arriving at Idaho State Penitentiary on June 7, 1918. Note 134 individually names Charles Carlson among these twelve and cites their inmate records. This fills a missing physical prison-arrival day, distinct from verdict and sentencing, without assuming the start of all earlier jail custody or a complete term served.
