Biography
Kojo Bomani Sababu, is a former member of the Black Liberation Army. He was arrested during an attempted bank robbery that aimed to gather funds to help fund revolutionary causes. He was sentenced to life in prison.
The Bureau of Prisons now lists his projected release as a transfer to state custody; he remains incarcerated.
Breakthrough Winter 1991 names Kojo Bomani Sababu, identified as Grailing Brown with register 39384-066, among the Lompoc Black Cultural Workshop members who prepared an open letter supporting Mumia Abu-Jamal. The list connects the signatories with the Research Committee on International Law and Black Freedom Fighters in America and NAPO. This documents prison-based solidarity work, not a new prosecution or custody endpoint. Source: https://www.freedomarchives.org/Documents/Finder/DOC501_scans/Break/501.break.20.win.91.pdf#page=35
Libertad’s November 1986 issue reports confinement at Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Center after transfer from Marion. The National Committee described restricted calls and visits, interference with mail, shackling during internal movement and videotaped strip searches after visits, and said attorney-client confidentiality was not assured. These are attributed contemporary defense-committee allegations. The transfer is undated and supplies no new admission or discharge endpoint; a December 8 trial date was prospective.
Writing as Kojo Bomani Sababu, Brown recalled Marion placements from June 1986 to July 1990 and from July to October 1992. These are facility-history recollections rather than new imprisonment totals.
The July 1986 Libertad reports Grailing Brown, also known as Kojo, was placed in solitary confinement on May 25, 1986 and subsequently held at Marion.
The signed Kojo letter dated March 17, 2024 reports lockdown since January, unresolved hip surgery and debilitating prison conditions while fasting for Ramadan. Kojo is matched through the existing Kojo Bomani Sababu alias, distinct from Sababu Na Uhuru/William Stoner. The letter gives no institution or actual transfer/release endpoint.
