Biography

Frederick Liedke was a seaman held since March 29, 1933 following a police raid after an International Longshoremen’s Association official broke up a West Side Unemployed Council meeting. The May 25 Daily Worker reported a deportation order to Danzig issued that week. It does not establish that he was deported, the statutory charge, the detention institution, or a release date. Ellis Island was explicitly named for the coarrestee Trevor, and is not assigned to Liedke on that basis.
