Biography
Fred Allen was the Communist Party section organizer in Norfolk. The November 10, 1932 Daily Worker reports that he was arrested Monday night, November 7, while leaving a Liberty Hall rent-strike meeting attended by about six hundred people. It quotes an accusation of trying to start a riot of Black residents against police or rental agents and says he was later released on $100 bail. Its announced Thursday trial remained prospective. No exact jail admission, physical discharge date or total custody duration is supplied. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1932/v09-n269-NY-nov-10-1932-DW-LOC.pdf#page=3
