Biography
Frank Diarkovsky, also known as Franz Dzerkovskie, was a Russian laborer who had participated in the revolutionary movement before immigrating to the United States in 1904. He moved to Canada in 1912, returned to the United States around 1915, and joined the Union of Russian Workers in Seattle. During his deportation case he rejected national identity and openly defended anarchism. The federal government deported him to Russia on February 26, 1921.
The September 1920 One Big Union Monthly lists a detainee under the printed name "Frank Dziarkofsky" among IWW members then held at Ellis Island, New York, awaiting deportation to Russia. The variant spelling and deportation context identify this as the same detainee. This supplies a contemporary Ellis Island custody location, without an exact admission date, completed deportation date or complete duration.
