Biography

Eric Jasinski was a U.S. Army intelligence analyst who served in Iraq and went absent without leave after seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. He said an involuntary extension of his service and plans for another Iraq deployment intensified his distress. After returning to Fort Hood in December 2009, he received a thirty-day confinement sentence in 2010. Reporting after his release confirms that he served twenty-five days in Bell County Jail and was released on April 24, 2010. His resistance arose in the context of untreated combat-related distress.
