Biography

Emil Linden was national secretary of the Fishermen and Cannery Workers Industrial Union, leading a strike of about two thousand fishermen at Anacortes, Washington. Page 3’s August 6 dispatch says a United States Marshal arrested him and that mass protest forced his release after six hours. The report supplies no statutory charge or exact arrest and discharge dates. The six hours is explicitly actual detention and is retained in hours without rounding it up to a full day.
