Biography

Elías Beauchamp was a Cadet of the Republic arrested following the February 23, 1936 assassination of police chief E. Francis Riggs. The thesis describes actual police-station confinement on San Francisco Street in San Juan and killing in custody that day, contrasting the police account with journalist Enrique Ramírez Brau’s later eyewitness account. No judicial sentence was completed.
