Black Vietnam veteran sentenced to life plus five years for an alleged armed bank-robbery kidnapping despite no victim identifying him and no prior record; The Black Panther Vol. 17 no.8 (1977) reports the Eldson McGhee Support Committee seeking his release.
A 1977 appeal from the Eldson McGhee Support Committee, Community Aid to Prisoners and Prisoner Visitation and Support identified McGhee as federal prisoner 29915-138 at the United States Penitentiary in Atlanta. It reported that he had already spent more than four years imprisoned and had overcome his drug addiction. The appeal sought amnesty from President Carter; it did not report that amnesty or release had occurred.
