Biography

Edward Stubbs was prosecuted after students tried to intervene in campus police officers’ violent arrest of Marc Cullen during a University of Maryland antiwar rally on May 10, 1972. Stubbs entered a plea agreement and received probation before judgment.

Contemporary trial-outcome details, not prison endpoints

The contemporary article individually names Ed Stubbs as pleading guilty to one assault count in an agreement under which three other charges were dropped, and reports that he received two years of probation. This supplies the missing plea and probation length. It does not establish two years in prison or any admission or release date. The existing record’s later characterization as probation before judgment is preserved; a guilty plea alone is not converted into a newly entered conviction or a served jail term.
