Biography
One of the Vieques 4, sentenced in 1979 to federal prison for protesting US Navy bombing on the island of Vieques. The four were prosecuted to discourage further civil disobedience against the Navy's occupation. Documented in PFOC Breakthrough magazine.
The December 31, 1979 police memorandum names Diego Ledée Bazán and records a meeting about why he had not been released; it does not establish his eventual physical discharge day. A January 4 report describes his January 3 press conference, at which he alleged mistreatment in federal prison and planned complaints to the Puerto Rico Bar Association’s civil-rights commission. A November 25 newspaper report locates his imprisonment in Santa Cruz, without naming a facility. These are attributed accounts and custody context, not a new case, a confirmed abuse finding, or a precise release date.
