Biography
Diane Reinhardt began actually serving a twenty-two-day jail sentence on November 7, 1983 after refusing a fine for an October 22 anti-nuclear protest at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. She had been released on recognizance after the initial arrest. The November 2 arraignment initially produced a suspended thirty-day term and a fine; the later actual jail entry is separate. The newsletter gives her Rockingham County House of Correction address. The later December issue confirms she was physically released after only one week; the exact discharge day is not printed and November 29 was only projected.
Sources and limits
The Nuclear Resister No21, November 15, 1983, original page 1.
Individually reported anti-nuclear protest custody; forecast release and nominal sentence lengths are not treated as actual discharge or completed time. No demographic attributes, vital dates, unsupported name expansions or current custody status are inferred.
Later actual outcome
The December 16, 1983 follow-up explicitly confirms Diane Reinhardt entered jail November 7 and served only one week of the twenty-two-day sentence before being physically released. Seven days are actual completed service; twenty-two days was the imposed term and November 29 was only an earlier forecast. No exact discharge day is printed, so November 14 is not back-calculated. Actual discharge is recorded only at 1983 year precision.
The Nuclear Resister No.22, December 16, 1983, original page 6.
The Pease account explicitly dates the arraignment and suspended thirty-day sentence plus fine November 2, 1983. Her refusal led to a separately documented actual November 7 admission, not uninterrupted custody since October 22. Existing source-documented seven actual days and year-only release remain unchanged; November 29 was merely projected.
