Biography
Deric Lostutter was a hacker affiliated with the group Anonymous who helped bring attention to the Steubenville High School rape case after it was alleged that local school officials were covering up a rape committed members of the high school football team. Lostutter made a video wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and using text-to-speech to demand the guilty parties in the case come forward and apologize to the victim and her family. The video inspired a fellow hacker and Department of Defense computer technician, Noah McHugh to hack a fan site for the high school football team where video of the sexual assault had been posted and repost Lostutter's demands on it. Lostutter was interviewed by CNN after this and soon was arrested for the hack by the FBI. Lostutter was convicted and sentenced to 2 years in jail. A more severe sentence then what was given to the 2 football players convicted of rape and 6 school officials who were indicted for the cover-up.
