Biography

David Leff was an American UNESCO employee in Paris whose passport was seized during a U.S. loyalty investigation. A federal court issued a bench warrant in March 1954 after he did not return to New York for a grand-jury subpoena, but he remained abroad and was not arrested. The subpoena was declared invalid in February 1955, and the reviewed record establishes no confinement.
