Biography
Dan Agalos was a railroad labor organizer detained in Spokane in 1933 and later held at Ellis Island in deportation proceedings. A 1935 feature printed his letter from detention and described his work organizing railroad workers. By December 8, 1935 he was out on bail. A February 21, 1936 report said he had been deported to Greece that Tuesday. The reports disagree on the exact 1933 arrest day, and do not establish continuous custody or complete imprisonment dates.
Sources and evidence limits
August 12 article: actual Spokane jail, four and a half months, then Ellis Island; quoted letter gives arrival there July 22, 1935. It prints July 3, 1933 arrest; February 21 report prints June 29, 1933, so only year is stored. December 11 report places him out on bail at December 8 conference: continuous custody through 1936 is not assumed. February 21 report and his departure letter establish Tuesday, February 18, 1936 deportation, not a jail release day. Dan/Don spellings are explicitly printed; age discrepancies are not converted to DOB.
