Biography
Curtis Brown was a Tombs prisoner and elected inmate representative prosecuted over the October 1970 Manhattan jail rebellion. Contemporary accounts identify prolonged actual confinement and describe the case as retaliation against prisoner organizing. He was one of the Tombs Three acquitted on all rebellion charges in 1972. Original custody admission and actual release dates remain unknown.

They were already inmates; acquittal on the rebellion charges is not treated as an executed release from their underlying confinement. Right On! names the seven elected Tombs prisoner representatives in a 72-count indictment placed against them on January 25, 1971, over the October 22, 1970 rebellion: fifty kidnapping, fourteen unlawful-imprisonment, five coercion and one each reckless-endangerment, riot and interference-with-government-administration counts. Its expression “dropped ... on” describes bringing the indictment, not dismissing it. The publication alleges retaliation for prisoners’ organizing and legal education. No physical release date or final disposition follows from this report.
