Concepcion Estrada Correa was a seventeen-year-old Puerto Rican sentenced to death in New York after a felony-murder conviction returned on April 2, 1954. His defenders challenged the evidence and the all-white “blue-ribbon” jury amid intense anti-Puerto Rican publicity. Governor Averell Harriman commuted the death sentence to life imprisonment on February 10, 1955. His eventual release date remains unresolved.
