The General Defense Committee’s “Defense News” on printed page 53 reports Charles Clifford among three men who had recently secured release from the Idaho State Penitentiary through parole or expiration of sentence. The item does not distinguish which mechanism applied to each man, give an exact physical-release date, or establish a complete term served.
White describes Charles Clifford’s brother and mother pleading with the Idaho governor for a visit before their seriously ill mother died. The brother reported two years without seeing him. This is family-separation evidence rather than a complete imprisonment total.
