Biography
Charles Clark Marshall III, known as Chip Marshall, was an antiwar organizer and Seattle Seven defendant. He represented himself during portions of the trial and questioned the prosecution witness.
The prosecution concerned the February 17, 1970 antiwar demonstration in Seattle. Judge George Boldt declared a mistrial and imposed summary contempt sentences. On November 18, 1971, the Ninth Circuit reversed the contempt judgments because the procedure and factual certifications were inadequate. Further contempt proceedings produced reduced sentences; the original conspiracy prosecution ended in 1973. The original sentences do not establish the actual total time served.
