Biography
Carolyn Long Banks was a Clark College student and spokesperson for the students seated at Rich’s restaurant during the October 1960 Atlanta department-store demonstrations. Police arrested her on October 19 with dozens of other protesters after they refused to leave segregated lunch counters. She remained in the Fulton County jail until October 23, when the jailed students were released.
