Biography

Brittany Martin was arrested on June 4, 2020 following protests against police violence in Sumter, South Carolina. After pretrial detention and release on bond, she was convicted of breach of the peace of a high and aggravated nature and sentenced to four years on May 16, 2022. She was acquitted of the riot and threatening-officer charges. She left prison on November 27, 2024. The ACLU challenged her conviction; the U.S. Supreme Court declined review on October 6, 2025.
