Before the Minnesota Eight draft-board case, Brad Beneke was separately convicted of contempt while observing Brian Wells’s trial. On April 13, 1970, Judge Edward J. Devitt sentenced him to ten days in jail and a $200 fine after an exchange in the courtroom. This contempt proceeding was distinct from the July 1970 draft-board raid; its physical jail admission and release dates and the completed time served are not established here.
