Biography
Bernard Rush, a student at the Workers School in Philadelphia, was arrested with school director Adolph Heller on July 10, 1940 in a purported bomb case built around a device police said they found after an anonymous tip. He was held on $3,500 bail and later convicted, but the trial judge set the conviction aside for insufficient evidence. The length of any custody after arrest remains unresolved.
