Biography

Ben Polack was one of five workers arrested Friday afternoon, July 29, 1932, after police broke up fur-strike and millinery-market meetings in New York. At Jefferson Market Court the following morning, Judge Thomas Aurelio imposed five days in prison, then reduced the term to two days after union lawyer J. Buitenkant protested. A sentence is not proof of the complete time actually served, and no physical release day is supplied.
