Biography

Barney Goldsmith was apprehended carrying a Communist Labor Party membership card, according to the Denver entry spanning printed pages 60-61 of the 1920 congressional case summary. He said he had returned to Denver in October 1919 and learned that his Socialist branch had become part of the Communist Labor Party when he paid his dues and received the card. The local inspector recommended cancellation; the commissioner general instead recommended deportation. The warrant was canceled April 1, without an established physical release day or complete detention duration.
