Biography
Barbara Yoko Tanaka was a child from Waialua, Oahu, and daughter of Tetsuo and Chiyoko Tanaka. JCCH records her birth year as 1940. Her individual record documents Lurline mainland transfer in December 1942, Jerome confinement January 1943-May 1944, Tule Lake May 1944-January 1946 and Hawaii return aboard Marine Wolf in March 1946. Her father returned separately in December 1945. No continued camp confinement between January and March 1946 is inferred. This was administrative US wartime family confinement in the context of Japanese ancestry. No individual criminal conviction, imposed judicial sentence or exact arrest or release day is established.
