Biography
Arthur Majid Barnes, also reported as Arthur Majeed Barnes, was a member of the Black Men’s Movement Against Crack. New York State Police arrested Barnes, Abdul Haqq Muhammad, and Robert “R.T.” Taylor during a traffic stop in upstate New York on July 16, 1987. Barnes was later imprisoned on weapons-possession convictions and was listed at Sing Sing in 1989 under state prisoner number 88-A-7424.

The appellate judgment identifies Arthur Barnes sentence as August 4, 1988, distinct from his co-defendants September 1 date. The opinion remits Barnes case under CPL 460.50(5); neither that appellate date nor sentencing establishes an exact custody admission or release. People v.
