Biography
Antonio Camacho Negrón was a member of Los Macheteros arrested in the August 30, 1985 mass FBI raid in Puerto Rico for his role in the September 12, 1983 Wells Fargo expropriation in West Hartford, Connecticut. He was convicted at trial in 1989 in U.S. District Court in Hartford. After serving his federal sentence he returned to Puerto Rico, where he later refused to comply with U.S. probation supervision and was returned to federal prison; he was finally released in 2014.
Workers World describes Antonio Camacho Negrón as recently released from United States federal prison when he attended the September 23, 2006 event at El Maestro in the Bronx. The article provides contemporary evidence of release before that event, but no exact discharge date. It should not be interpreted as proof of uninterrupted imprisonment until a later release. The July 28, 1999 presidential memorandum individually states that Antonio Camacho-Negron was actually released on February 13, 1998 and then reincarcerated for parole violations. The formal grant separately records June 8, 1989 sentencing to fifteen years plus a fine. The 1999 clemency for him remitted a fine; it did not establish discharge from prison. The first physical release is now preserved as a distinct partial custody-phase record with unknown admission. The existing long-span row’s 10,577-day counter included an actual period outside prison and has been removed. The precise readmission, complete served total and source for the later 2014 endpoint remain unresolved. No continuous 1985–2014 custody is asserted.
