Biography

Anna Allen was arrested in front of Macy's department store in New York for distributing leaflets addressed to its employees. The Daily Worker of December 24, 1932, page 2, reports that she was arrested the previous day and brought before Judge Aurelio for littering the street with literature. The judge dismissed the case. She was defended by attorney David Shifman of the International Labor Defense. The report connects the dismissal with public pressure arising from the defense of unemployed worker Sam Brown; it does not identify that Brown sufficiently to merge him with another profile.
