Biography
Alton Lawrence was a Mine-Mill executive board member from Bessemer, Alabama. He pleaded no contest in October 1959 to the federal conspiracy charge over the union’s Taft-Hartley non-Communist affidavits. Contemporary records confirm that he was released on bail after indictment, but the final disposition of his plea has not yet been located and no evidence of imprisonment has been found.
