Biography
Ali Khalid Abdullah was a Black Muslim anarchist and Michigan prison organizer. He was imprisoned in 1990 after an attempted action against businesses he said were fronts for a drug dealer accused of abusing a child. Abdullah and supporters said the group left without taking money or harming employees; he was convicted of assault with intent to rob while armed and sentenced to six and a half to twenty years. Inside prison he organized against racism and prison conditions, helped build the Political Prisoners of War Coalition, wrote extensively, and was repeatedly denied parole. Contemporary support material said his maximum discharge date was in July 2008. Later movement histories report that he was released and subsequently died, but the exact dates have not been established.
Black Flag issue 213 reproduces a letter from Abdullah, register 148130, at Ryan Regional Correctional Facility in Detroit, appealing through the Political Prisoners of War Coalition for support for Sekou Cinque Kambui and praising his prison-rights and political writing. This is an identified institutional and solidarity-writing snapshot, not a new admission or release date. Source: https://files.libcom.org/files/SCN_0003_compressed.pdf#page=17
