Biography

Alejandro Correa, described as thirty-six and brother of Gallup miners Gregorio and Victorio, was jailed in a military stockade during the 1933 coal strike. He joined a hunger strike and was detained again after a settlement negotiated by an NRA mediator; rank-and-file pressure secured release. The October 1935 account also places him in El Paso jail facing deportation after a July 1934 arrest reportedly connected with visiting Frank Williams in jail. Those are separate episodes; exact custody endpoints and completed durations are unprinted. Daily Worker, October 7, 1935, original PDF page 5.
