Biography

Albert Barr was from Kansas. Albert Barr was sentenced to five years in prison. He served in Leavenworth Penitentiary from December 18, 1919, to June 17, 1921, when he was released on bond pending appeal.

The March 1920 One Big Union Monthly prisoner roster, under the printed name BARR, ALBERT, reports: Federal . Indicted Wichita , March , 14 , 1918 . spiracy. Convicted Dec. 1919. 5 year sentence . Leavenworth Federal prison. This is the contemporary labor organization’s account. Indictment, bail and imposed sentence are distinguished from physical admission, actual release and complete time served; no missing custody endpoint is inferred. Earlier pretrial confinement distinguished from the later prison term

The June 27, 1919 newspaper individually names Albert Barr among the Kansas prisoners and describes an attorney visiting him in the Topeka jail before Christmas. It reports that he declined to press for release on bond so he could continue studying, and describes the prisoners as still awaiting trial. This documents earlier pretrial confinement, not an additional conviction or a separately dated physical entry or exit. The Christmas reference is relative, and the article gives no individual admission or release day. It is therefore not used to extend the existing December 1919–June 1921 Leavenworth endpoints continuously through an unproved earlier period, to duplicate this prosecution in a new case, or to infer a birthday from the reported age of about twenty-two.

The Workers’ World, Kansas City, volume 1 number 13, June 27, 1919, original printed page 2. All four original newspaper pages, including continuations and surrounding material, were reviewed. Political, medical and mistreatment claims remain attributed to the paper.

The March1922 official report lists Albert Barr in List1 of convicted prisoners or parolees. The government entry reports Conspiracy and violating the espionage act, etc. a sentence of December 18, 1919, 5 years Leavenworth, and to pay costs and stand committed until costs are paid.. Imposed terms, projected term-expiration dates, parole eligibility and intervals on bond are different measures; none is entered as a complete actual custody total. This attributed government entry is retained alongside the independently established individual chronology. [PDF3] The official report individually records June17,1921 release on bond or by court order. This is an accomplished physical-release event, distinct from parole eligibility and projected expiry. The sentence date is not automatically treated as original arrest or complete continuous prison admission. [PDF3]
