Biography
Alam Zeb Khan was a 19-year-old student in Pakistan’s Swat district when a federal grand jury in Miami indicted him in May 2011 with his mother, grandfather and three other defendants. Prosecutors alleged a conspiracy to provide money and other support to the Pakistani Taliban. Zeb publicly denied the allegation, saying the money supported a girls’ school and relatives. A federal appellate decision later confirmed that Zeb remained in Pakistan, was not tried, and that efforts to extradite the three Pakistan-based defendants failed. He was never assigned the federal inmate number or 1995 release date previously attached to this profile.
The May 12, 2011 indictment names him in all four counts. Count 4 applies to Hafiz Khan, Ali Rehman and Alam Zeb; Irfan and Izhar Khan were charged in only the first three counts. The filing is not evidence of a United States arrest or confinement. Source: https://www.justice.gov/archive/usao/fls/PressReleases/Attachments/110514-01.Indictment.pdf#page=1
