Biography
Akram Musa Abdallah, also known as Abu Saiaf, was born in Jericho, Jordan, on July 5, 1954 and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen living in Mesa, Arizona. He helped organize and coordinate Holy Land Foundation fundraising events in the Phoenix area between 1994 and 1997. Federal agents charged him with falsely denying that activity during January 2007 interviews. Abdallah pleaded guilty on May 6, 2009 to making false statements. On March 4, 2010, he was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. He surrendered on June 1, 2010 and was released on September 16, 2011.
