A federal jury convicted nine defendants on March 13, 2026, in the Prairieland Detention Center case. The charges arose from a July 4, 2025 incident outside the ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas, during which a police officer was shot.
The Justice Department said the verdicts covered offenses including rioting, material support, weapons charges and concealment of evidence. The counts differed among defendants. Benjamin Song was convicted of attempted murder; that conviction should not be attributed to every defendant.
Sentencing remained ahead at the time of the verdicts. The convictions marked the end of the jury trial, with defendants still able to pursue post-trial motions and appeals.
