Marius Mason left federal prison for a halfway house in May 2026, his supporters confirmed. The move followed more than 17 years of imprisonment for environmental sabotage.
The halfway-house placement did not end his sentence. The Anarchist Black Cross Federation reported that the sentence was due to end in May 2027.
In a statement before leaving prison, Mason thanked people who had supported him through his incarceration and transition. He said he hoped to use his paralegal studies and writing-tutor training to contribute to his community in Detroit.
