Biography
William Lawrence was arrested during a second raid on labor and Communist offices in Scranton, Pennsylvania in July 1930. The Daily Worker of July8 reports that unlike five organizers facing sedition accusations, these three were not charged with sedition and were released. The exact arrest and release days and any other charge are unestablished.
The December 9 Washington account places this already recorded antiwar defendant at Occoquan and describes the authorities’ questioning of prisoners by Barnard and Schoen. This supplies conditions during the existing November prosecution, not another arrest. The collective report that twenty-two others had completed thirty days is not automatically assigned as this person’s individual total.
